The Realms of the Sapphire Throne is an empire centered around The Blue Jewel in the Sapphire system. The ruler, titled the Admiral-Emperor, is elected upon the death of the previous ruler, chosen to be the best military commander. Most often, the Admiral-Emperor's second-in-command - the Lord High Admiral - is chosen as the new Admiral-Emperor.

The Realms of the Sapphire Throne are a militaristic empire, and as such will often use its military as its primary tool for gaining influence and new territory. As the Sapphians are an aquatic species, they will focus on wet planets, with a particular fondness for oceanic worlds.
